Crane Hire

Our crane hire fleet consists of a wide range of truck mounted and all terrain cranes ranging from 7 to 250 tonnes, however we can get larger cranes if required. We also provide mobile cranes for hire. Based in Tuxford, central to Sheffield, Nottingham and Lincoln, we have great access links to the surrounding areas of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. We have our own Appointed Persons and Slingers, and can organise Crane and Operator only hire (CPA Hire) or a Full Contract Lift. We have recently been awarded the CHAS accreditation.

This means you can feel secure in the knowledge that all lifts will be done safely by qualified staff, and have confidence that our Health and Safety policy and procedures have been assessed by an independent verifier. The table below gives a guide to the cranes available, their boom and jib lengths and their load capacities:

The difference between CPA hire and a Contract Lift:

CPA hire

When you hire a crane and operator only, it is called a CPA Hire (Construction Plant Hire Association hire). The crane and operator will work to your instructions, unless they deem it unsafe. You have to plan the lift, select a suitable crane, specify the slinging and signalling arrangements, supervise the lift and be responsible for the lifting operation, (including the production of a Method Statement, Risk Assessment and Lift Plan which is to be shown and briefed to the driver). You also have to arrange suitable hired in plant insurance for up to £650,000 (which would cover you for up to a 250 tonne crane)

Contract lift

If a CPA Hire lift seems a huge responsibility or you do not have the personnel to complete this lift, you can hire the services of a banksman to sling the load, or an appointed person to do a site visit and produce a method statement for you. If you want us to handle all aspects of the lift, then you need a Contract Lift; we will plan the lift, select a suitable crane, specify the slinging and signalling arrangements, supervise the lift and be responsible for the lifting operation, including the production of a Method Statement, Risk Assessment and Lift Plan. We also supply full contract lift insurance which covers on hook goods up to a value of £70,000. (Extra on hook insurance can be arranged to suit the value of the goods being lifted.)
